Perhaps a useful barometer for the recession, and even our society’s overall general economic health, is to look at how car sales are doing. Nothing seems to reflect the public’s state of mind like their appetite and willingness to express themselves through their cars, in terms of performance and style.

Well, as for how things are going, it’s early, but it would seem The Big 3 are on the rebound in 2010 as showcased at auto shows like Detroit and Chicago. And, in the collector’s realm of the car buying galaxy, if you happened to be at a Gooding and Company auction in Scottsdale in late January, why, you might just be under the impression that “recession” is something they only talk about in Propecia commercials these days.

But seriously, there at the Gooding and Company auction, a 1956 Jaguar D-Type Sports Racer brought in $3.74 million. This is the car that won the Le Mans from ’55-’57, the car that essentially solidified Jaguar as a hybrid in the classic sense of performance and aesthetics. With its muscular yet sleek body and aerodynamic nose, it is one of the most beloved cars of all-time, and its price in Scottsdale certainly reflects that. In fact, the ’56 Jaguar was one of 3 cars at the auction to top 1 million dollars, the others being a 1934 Duesenberg Model J Disappearing Top Convertible Coupe (1.815) and a 1959 Costin Lister Jaguar Sports Racer (1.1).

At first the recent events in Scottsdale might not appear to be very useful for telling us what’s going on with the average car buyer surveying his Madison used cars lot. For one, those auctioned cars exceeding the 1 million dollar mark may never pull up alongside that average car buyer at a red light on Main Street or into Joe’s auto garage, let alone sniff the tar bubbles of America’s roadways; but what is significant here is that cars, both at Midwest auto shows and in an internationally recognized auction house in Scottsdale, at least seem to be capturing the public’s imagination again after some dark years. They are a commodity worth spending on. Yes, from all accounts it would seem the automobile is revving back up again. And that would certainly indicate that both auction houses and your local Madison dealer should expect bright days ahead.

The Jaguar XJ (the 2011 model is coming to your Madison dealer in April) was rated among the least ticketed vehicles in a study of 1.7 million vehicles. In fact, the XJ is 89% less likely to get a ticket than average. You might find this surprising given that one of the engines XJ offers is a 400-hp 4.2-liter supercharged V8, a temptation for any driver with a penchant for speed, but the numbers don’t lie.

The study was conducted by Quality Planning, a company that validates policyholder info for auto insurers, based on data gathered between August 2007 and September 2008. Other vehicles that made the ranks were the Chevrolet Suburban, the 2005 Buick Park Avenue, and the Mazda6.

The XJ is Jaguar’s top of the line model, best known for pampering its occupants with traditional British luxury and a smooth ride. The XJ has been called the “most beautiful” by The Detroit News. Indeed, all the upright lines are discarded for a low, sleek roofline, giving the car a more avant-garde silhouette. The interior boasts a modern look with a leather headliner, upgraded leather seats and laser-inlaid wood trim and new custom trim options. And a new dash panel without traditional dials uses a large high-definition screen to display all the usual gauge functions, while also changing colors subtly to indicate performance driving modes with a soft red glow. Sleek design, high-tech performance, and it won’t get you pulled over? Yes, please.

The XJ is also a favorite of Jay Leno and Jay-Z, the latter of who featured the car in his latest music video. But you don’t have to be a late-night or hip-hop star (or named Jay) to enjoy the XJ’s luxury and performance.

While you’re waiting for the 2011 model, check out the featured cars of your Madison dealer, including the 2009 Jaguar XF Premium Luxury, 2008 and 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE, 2006 Jaguar XJ, 2009 Jaguar XK, or any in the collection of Madison used cars. And, with the new year, make sure all your vehicles are up to speed with a Madison oil change. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is ready to help you get on the road today, so stop on by!

Any company shooting for success would be wise to model their customer service approach after the fast food powerhouse Burger King. After all “Have it your way” seems to be a concept that never leaves the customer disappointed and in the past has always been good for business.

Your Madison dealer has been an integral part of Jaguar standing at the top of the J.D. Power and Associates Satisfaction Survey, with an index score of 898. This is Jaguar’s second straight year leading the way in customer sales satisfaction, for the luxury brands division.

J.D. Power and Associates Sales Satisfaction Index takes into account five factors when determining index scores: the dealership facility, salesperson, the paperwork process, delivery process, and the vehicle’s price. A census of 48,000 new-vehicle buyers was considered during the 2009 survey analyzing those either purchasing or leasing.

Concluded in the study was that twenty percent of customers who left a dealership without purchasing a car did so in response to poor customer treatment. As money continues to be a significant factor for buyers, having a positive salesperson client relation could make all the difference. Americans are looking for an excuse not to spend money and having a unsettling interaction with a dealer could leave both parties empty handed.

Your Madison dealer also has a generous selection of Land Rovers whose survey index score, 872, ranked in the top five for sales satisfaction. Audi and Volvo were both at the bottom of the rankings, whereas Cadillac and Lexus took the number two and three spots respectively.

As for mass market brands, Mercury ranked in at number one with a index score of 867. Smart, Buick, Pontiac, and Chevrolet rounded out the remaining of the top five highest index scores. Mitsubishi and Jeep were ranked in the bottom two, suggesting that they poorly accommodate their customers throughout the sales process.

J.D. Power and Associates has been one of the most reliable market research companies since the 60’s, globally conducting multiple automotive industry surveys on a yearly basis.

So whether you come down to the Madison dealer interested in Fields Madison’s new car selection or Madison used cars , there is one aspect of the experience you can look forward to, having it your way. No red tape and long lines at Madison dealer Fields Jaguar Land Rover.

A more eco-friendly Land Rover is coming to your Madison dealer. The new LRX model is similar to the one that debuted in 2008 at the Detroit Auto Show. It was liked by many who saw it and finally the company will be working on it in their production plants!

The 2011 LRX is currently being reviewed and tested by many major auto critics, but it’s said to be the “smallest, lightest, and most efficient vehicle the company has ever produced.” This statement by Land Rover is a bold one, opening the flood gates for more information on what this Madison new car will offer!

The 2011 LR will be a two door with smaller proportions, as compared to other Madison used cars. It’s just under 6 inches shorter, nose to tail, and height wise, about 8 inches shorter than other Land Rover models. This being said, it won’t have the capabilities off road, but looks like a great vehicle, with plenty of space, possibly a perfect fit for today’s family??

This Madison new car will be a help to the environment. CO2 emissions will be under 150 g/km, which equals about 50 mpg in fuel efficiency. A Range Rover hybrid is also a possibility down the road. This would only give off about 120 g/km, increasing the efficiency of fuel to nearly 60 mpg. Sounds good to me!

This model, which is based on the LRX concept, will not be sold at your Madison dealer until later 2010 as a 2011 model. Right now, Fields Madison has a large inventory of new Land Rovers and Madison used cars waiting to go home with you today!

The automaker we recognize as producing the most powerful, athletic and luxurious lineup of 4WDs is switching gears for a moment to focus on the plans for its first hybrid vehicle. Land Rover has been rumored to be making the big plunge for some time now, but recently it seems something’s actually materializing.

It’s been reported that Land Rover is ditching the original kinetic-energy flywheel system and the high-tech Electric Rear Axle Drive that they were planning on incorporating into the new hybrid’s build. Now there’s been word that Land Rover is actually developing its own parallel hybrid system, which may be very similar to the Toyota Prius’ Hybrid Synergy Drive system, and would allow the vehicle to travel up to 20 miles on electric power alone. It’s believed a 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine will be providing the hybrid’s power, and according to Autoblog, the Land Rover hybrid will carry a lithium-ion battery pack- with plug – giving it the capability to soak up some juice while parked.

Now the news I’m sure everyone’s been waiting for- which model will be sporting the hybrid build: the lucky winner is the Range Rover Sport. Land Rover is going to make you wait until 2012 to get your hands on the model but they promise it will be worth the wait. It will debut around the same level of the Lexus RX450h in terms of carbon emissions, at an impressive 62 g/mile.

If you’re too anxious to wait for the 2012 Range Rover Sport Hybrid, head to your local Madison new car dealer, Fields Land Rover, and test-drive any of Land Rover’s other models. If you’re the kind of driver who loves sporting a one-of-a-kind ride, ask a member of Fields’ sales team about the all-new 2010 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Limited Edition, of which only 250 are being produced.

Fields has an incredibly wide selection of Madison used cars and new cars, where any shopper is guaranteed to be able to find the car of their dreams. Stop in today!
