Perhaps a useful barometer for the recession, and even our society’s overall general economic health, is to look at how car sales are doing. Nothing seems to reflect the public’s state of mind like their appetite and willingness to express themselves through their cars, in terms of performance and style.

Jaguar XJ one of least likely cars to be ticketed
The Jaguar XJ (the 2011 model is coming to your Madison dealer in April) was rated among the least ticketed vehicles in a study of 1.7 million vehicles. In fact, the XJ is 89% less likely to get a ticket than average. You might find this surprising given that one of the engines XJ offers is a 400-hp 4.2-liter supercharged V8, a temptation for any driver with a penchant for speed, but the numbers don’t lie.
The study was conducted by Quality Planning, a company that validates policyholder info for auto insurers, based on data gathered between August 2007 and September 2008. Other vehicles that made the ranks were the Chevrolet Suburban, the 2005 Buick Park Avenue, and the Mazda6.
Jaguar tops J.D. Power and Associates Satisfaction Survey
Any company shooting for success would be wise to model their customer service approach after the fast food powerhouse Burger King. After all “Have it your way” seems to be a concept that never leaves the customer disappointed and in the past has always been good for business.
Your Madison dealer has been an integral part of Jaguar standing at the top of the J.D. Power and Associates Satisfaction Survey, with an index score of 898. This is Jaguar’s second straight year leading the way in customer sales satisfaction, for the luxury brands division.

Land Rover Hybrid looking more and more promising
The automaker we recognize as producing the most powerful, athletic and luxurious lineup of 4WDs is switching gears for a moment to focus on the plans for its first hybrid vehicle. Land Rover has been rumored to be making the big plunge for some time now, but recently it seems something’s actually materializing.
It’s been reported that Land Rover is ditching the original kinetic-energy flywheel system and the high-tech Electric Rear Axle Drive that they were planning on incorporating into the new hybrid’s build. Now there’s been word that Land Rover is actually developing its own parallel hybrid system, which may be very similar to the Toyota Prius’ Hybrid Synergy Drive system, and would allow the vehicle to travel up to 20 miles on electric power alone. It’s believed a 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine will be providing the hybrid’s power, and according to Autoblog, the Land Rover hybrid will carry a lithium-ion battery pack- with plug – giving it the capability to soak up some juice while parked.
