There is currently a lot going on right now at Jaguar.  The 2010 Jaguar XF is an exciting car and there are even details out about the 2011 Jaguar XF Diesel S model.  Let’s take a look at what they have to offer.

Of all the Madison new cars you could choose from, the 2010 XF is one of the most powerful.  The XF comes with the choice of a powerful V8, or a supercharged V8.  With many sedans in this class, the V8 is an upgrade, but Jaguar has gotten rid of the V6 and upped the ante to a V8 across the board.  How’s that for power?!?!

Some other attributes that make this car great are the excellent braking and handling that the XF offers.  This is somewhat surprising to some, since it’s a larger car.  Not having to put all your force on the brakes keeps you from having to visit your Madison WI mechanic as often- not a bad thing at all!

The Jaguar comes with  fantastic interior features.  You’ll notice that the seats, gauges, and dashboard are made with quality materials.  There is wood trim finishing on parts of the interior, as well as nice metal touches near the knobs and gauges.  The lighting used for those gauges is a shade of blue that looks very modern.  These Madison new cars also have a great sound system and plenty of cargo room in the trunk!

Since we are in calendar year 2010, there is more information coming out about 2011 car models.  Jaguar is making the Diesel S a very cool model, where buyers will have the option of the Dynamics Pack or the Aerodynamic Pack. The Dynamics Pack will adjust suspension automatically, which will help a driver keep maximum handling.  The Aerodynamics Pack is more of a sport package, adding outside features that make it look sportier and help with the car’s aerodynamics.

The diesel based model will be more an entry level model and picks up quite a bit of styling from the XFR.  The base diesel engine will be a 3.0 Liter engine.  It’s something to consider if you like diesel models.  Most petrol cars are more popular overseas in Europe, but we may see them here at our Madison WI mechanic??

The 2010 LR4 HSE is at your Madison dealer and it really is a good buy if you crave this luxury SUV!  Let’s take a look at some of the luxurious features.

The LR4 has that classic Land Rover look to it, even though it has been updated on the exterior front (no pun intended!)  The front grille is new and the LED lights are a modern design.  Some new paint colors are available and it has 19- and 20-inch wheel designs.  A side view of the LR4 HSE shows a longer SUV with a slightly raised back end.  I like this new look!

The engine of the LR4 is one of the biggest changes!  It is a very powerful V8 5.0 L that delivers 375 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque.  Awesome!  Also, it is reported that the fuel economy isn’t affected with the increased power.  Don’t let that fool you into thinking that this new SUV, found at your Madison used car dealership, has good gas mileage.  It is a heavy-duty SUV after all!!

Inside the vehicle, there is a lot to say!  It is really nice with plenty of modern features.  The gadgets, found on the center console, have been redesigned to make their placement more user-friendly to the driver.  For example, the Terrain Response System has been moved and is now next to the shifter.  The seating is also very comfortable and there is plenty of it!  Perfect for long journeys: enough room for people and cargo makes for a happy trip!

As for the off road ability of the 2010 LR4, that is totally up to you. I am not sure if I would feel comfortable taking my $50K SUV on roads that are not nicely paved.  But, you can if you want to.  The LR4 has that handy Terrain Response System, that allows you to adjust the power, depending what type of surface you are driving on.  There is now a “sand” mode: perfect if you want to cruise the beach!

Land Rover and Guiness Premiership have teamed up to provide a cool iPhone application.  It is a sports application that gives the most up to date news, scores and fixtures in the rugby arena. Now,that’s a sport I am not familiar with at all, but a good friend and Madison new car owner is.  He downloaded this app as soon as it was available and couldn’t be happier getting scores as soon as the action takes place.

This app has been downloaded 62,000 times, 40K of those coming in the first six weeks after it was released.  In fact, about 1,100 downloads took place on Christmas (probably from those excited people who received an iPhone as a gift)!   The rugby news provider is the “the second most downloaded sports application and the 21st most downloaded application from the iTunes store”.   If you like Rugby,  you’ve been thinking about a new LR, it’s a great excuse to stop by your Madison car dealer.

What else is new in the Land Rover world?  Well, the 2011 Land Rover LRX should arrive on lots later this year.  It is going to be a great model.  The LRX will come with a 3.2-liter V6, 6-speed automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive with Land Rover’s Terrain Response System (TRS).  A Hybrid version will come later, as the company is hot on the trail of some competent staff who can develop and engineer hybrids.  We all know they are the future of car buying!

The outside of the LRX will be a sporty, two-door option.  It will be sleeker, have a tapered nose and contours will be smoother.  The two door model will be a bit shorter, but the cargo dimensions have not been given.  Let’s hope this Madison new car has the same cargo space, as say the 2010 LR2.

There is certainly a lot of promise with Land Rover vehicles- they’re teaming up to bring cool apps to the iPhone, releasing the LRX, and making the move into the hybrid world.  Land Rover is a brand we’ll be watching!

Hybrid vehicles are the wave of the future.  It’s a bandwagon that many car companies are jumping on, or want to jump on.  Jaguar/Land Rover are no different.  When they were a part of Ford Motors, they had more access to the type of engineering that is needed for a company to add electric driving capabilities to a car, SUV, and the like.  Now, JLR is part of Tata Motors and they’re “shopping” around for staff to engineer a hybrid vehicle that down the road could make it to your Madison car dealer.

What is the company doing to advertise their open positions?  They have a dedicated team that is recruiting the right people.  JLR wants to employ 50 engineers with experience in these areas:electrical, infotainment, software and hybrid engine technology. This would be in addition to the 125 grads and apprentices joining the company this September.  It’s no surprise that the company has already gotten 4,500 graduate apps in 2010 alone. They are the biggest auto recruiter in the United Kingdom and many people are looking for work these days.  Hey, if they can help create a Madison new car that is environmentally sound, that is a good thing!

There’s the 2010 Jaguar XF Luxury model that could be a good match.  It’s a 4.2L, v8 engine- nice ride!  It comes with a great selection of convenience features such as memory for seating and steering wheel.  In case your significant other drives it, it can go back to your comfort level in a second!  There’s also the keyless remote entry and a plethora of front and back cupholders (so very important) !

If you want something bigger, check out the 2010 Land Rover LR2.  It comes standard with all-wheel drive and has 4 doors, perfect for transporting your family on vacations and to sporting events. There’s a lot in store for JLR as they move into the electric vehicle arena.  They already produce amazing luxury cars/SUV’s and it’s no doubt that future Madison new cars will be top-notch as well!

After some negative feed back on the LR3′s interior, Land Rover staff decided to make some changes on the 2010 model.  This SUV, found at your Madison car dealer, has interior features that are both practical and elegant, much like the features found in a Jaguar.  Keep in mind that both Jags and LR’s are made by the same company, Tata Motors.

The improved interior quality can be seen from the steering wheel wrapped in leather to the walnut trim on the center console.  A friend of mine who recently look at one at his Madison new car dealer said there is also quite a bit more space inside the cabin.  The SUV can comfortably fit 4-5 adults, even though there is the optional third row seating that claims to seat up to 7.  It all depends on everyone’s size, personal space tolerance, and other factors.

The 2010 LR4 also has a new engine in it: a 375-horsepower, 5-liter V-8 with direct injection .  This engine configuration is also shared with other Madison new car Jaguar models.  Believe it or not, this enables the Land Rover to go from 0 to 60 in 7.5 seconds.  This really surprised me to hear, since it’s an SUV that weighs  A LOT.

As we all know, Land Rovers are very capable machines for driving on “regular” roads and also for those adventurous off-road trips.  The LR4 has better steering, handling and an overall smoother ride.  The 2010 model has a roll sensor that has been added to the stability control system.  The LR4 has larger brakes, which are also found on the Range Rover Sport.  The larger brakes help keep the auto from being taken over by it’s extra power.
