2011 Land Rover: catch your sneak peak at the Paris Auto Show

2011 Land Rover: catch your sneak peak at the Paris Auto Show

I’ve always wanted to go to Paris.  If I were lucky enough to be there, say between October 2nd and 17th of this year, then I could hit the motor show and see the 2011 Land Rover LRX.  Even though I won’t be lucky enough to go,  it’s still a great looking model.

This Madison new car, at first glance, reminds me quite a bit of the design for BMW’s ActiveHybrid X6.  This wouldn’t be a bad thing, since both brands offer luxurious, highly coveted SUV’s.  The Land Rover LRX is set to be a buyer’s option in the third quarter of 2011, so we have awhile to wait.

The LRX concept first became a vision in 2008 at the Detroit Auto Show.  Auto critics, the press, and the general public overall enjoyed what they saw.  Land Rover claims this model will be their most efficient yet and will come with a powertrain that is yep, you guessed it, very “hybrid” like.

Land Rover has been looking to get into the hybrid-race for awhile.  They are going a step further and developing their own parallel-hybrid sytem.  It is similar to the Toyota Prius hybrid’s system.  A conventional battery pack will hold the charge and it will have the ability to be charged at home.  Again, this hybrid LRX model is not set in stone, just in the planning stages at this time.

Another thing that I like about the LRX concept coming to Paris is the less boxy look versus other Madison car dealer Land Rover’s.  It is a smaller crossover that weighs less and has a somewhat sportier look.  However, Land Rover lovers won’t have to sacrifice with a bit smaller vehicle.  It’ll still have plenty of cargo space, a nice cabin, and all the up to date bells and whistles common with a luxury crossover.

After the Paris Motor show in a few months, it will be intersting to see what the press has to say about this Madison new car.  Like the LR2, on which the LRX is based, it is sure to please those who have come to love all the Land Rover models sold at your Madison car dealer!

A look back in time: Land Rover’s orginial vehicle

A look back in time: Land Rover’s orginial vehicle

Land Rovers have been around for many years.  As you see the most current models at your Madison dealer, sometimes it’s kind of cool to see how these SUV’s evolved.

Back in 1947,  Maurice Wilkes was the technical director for Rover Cars, as it was called at the time.  He felt that there was need and desire from the general public for a type of military/utilitarian 4X4.   So, about a year later in 1948, the first Land Rover was born.  It debuted at the Amsterdam Motor Show.

This Madison new car was manufactured with aluminum that was left over from planes used in the war.  Wow, things do come full circle, since the Land Rover/Jaguar company is going back to using aluminum in upcoming models. It also featured four wheel drive and a lightweight chassis.

10 years later, when my parents were young children, an updated Land Rover came out.  It drove a bit smoother, but still very durable.  This model was highly sought all over the world, as orders came in bundles from 70 countries!  This LR had a 2.25 litre petrol engine.  Thus, a world wide brand name began!

As popular as the Land Rover was, the automaker wanted to create a more comfortable SUV.  In response,  Range Rover was born.  It had many desirable characteristics such as a V8 engine with 3.5 L,  Disc brakes and a self-leveling suspension. This RR went on sale at your Madison dealer starting in 1970.

Over the past 30 years or so, Land Rover/Range Rover models have been updated.  In 1981, a four door model came out.  In 1992, many technical advances were made on this auto.  Anti-lock brakes and air-bag suspension joined the line-up of safety features.  The Range Rover II came out in 1994.  It’s evident that many different model options have come and gone at your local store.

Land Rover and Range Rover SUV’s are worth the time to check out.  They have amazing on and off-road capabilities, are durable, and have luxurious interiors.  These Madison new cars are available at your local dealer.  Take a trip there soon!

Jaguar and Land Rover part of renewed deal to ship 45,000 vehicles across the Atlantic Ocean

Jaguar and Land Rover part of renewed deal to ship 45,000 vehicles across the Atlantic Ocean

A partnership has been renewed.  What great information to hear and it involves Jaguar, Land Rover, and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL).  The car brands have been doing business with each other since the early 1980′s.  WWL is responsible for shipping Jaguars and Land Rovers overseas from Southampton in the UK to North America and other countries.  Thus, you can thank them for the beautiful XK or Land Rover Sport waiting for you at your Madison dealer.

In 2010 WWL will ship around 45,000 Jaguar and Land Rover models across the Atlantic to several ports.  These include Baltimore, Brunswick, Port Hueneme in the United States; Halifax in Canada and Fremantle, Melbourne and Port Kembla in Australia; and Auckland in New Zealand.  Both companies will be working together to make sure their policies are in tune with lessening any negative impact on the environment.

It’s kind of cool to see where your new and used cars Madison come from.  Now that we’ve moved across the ocean from port to port, let’s see what’s on tap at  your Madison dealer.

Currently, there are many new models for sale.  For example, you have the 2010 Jaguar XF Premium Luxury model.  It is a beautiful luxury car with many great amenities.  It features a 5.0 L, V8 engine and an automatic transmission.  Inside the car you will find a handy navigation system, rear cupholders (making those backseat drivers very happy!), and many great audio features.

If you’re in the market for something bigger, consider the 2010 Land Rover LR2.  It has a sportier design, along with some awesome off road capabilities if you’ve got that adventurous gene in you!   Powertrain wise, it offers 230 HP and four wheel drive.  The engine is a 3.2 L that gives 234 pound feet of torque.  Fuel economy wise, highway driving is around 22 mpg.  Obviously, it’s not as great as a used cars Madison sedan, but after all, SUV’s aren’t known for that!  Instead, it’ll offer a ton of passenger and cargo space that a smaller auto cannot.

Don’t forget to bring your Jaguar or LR in for their Madison oil change every 3,000 miles or so. Your auto will thank you!

Jaguar becomes lighter with aluminum exterior

Jaguar becomes lighter with aluminum exterior

Tata Motors, the company that makes Jaguar’s, has announced that for all future Jags sold at your Madison dealer, a lighter weight aluminum will be used in the manufacturing of all models.

There are several advantages to using aluminum versus other metals.  The size of a luxury car has increased about 22 lbs per year over the past 10 years or so, affecting fuel economy and overall performance.  A large car can mean a company having to install larger engines to allow the car to get the power a luxury car owner expects.  Using aluminum can help lessen the weight and improve fuel economy of future Jags sold at your Madison used car dealership. 2010 Special Edition Range Rover comes complete with shotguns and a full bar

An extremely supped up Limited Edition Range Rover is making an appearance this year.  Range Rover’s are already very beautiful, reliable, and large Madison new cars, so what will be different with the LE model?

The outfit responsible for customizing Range Rovers, Overfinch, is teaming up with Holland and Holland, a rifle and shotgun company in Britain.  They are going to make this SUV one fascinating ride!

Characteristics both inside and outside the vehicle will be very noticeable!  The new Range Rover will come with tires that are all season and great in mud and snow.  There will be treatments coming special from Overfinch, such as upgrades on headlamp, tail light , and bumper. Cool features that the staff will notice when you come in for your Madison oil change.

The interior trim and seating is elegant and luxurious.  High-quality leather, with contrasting stitching is used all over the vehicle.  You’ll find it on doors, seating, upper and lower dashboard, even in the cubby box.

Another amenity Land Rover can brag out is the “cupboard” that has 3 drawers.  Like some antique wood-crafted cupboards, the LR’s has hand crafted veneers that mimic the woodwork used in other areas of the SUV.  These drawers do not come empty, however.  In them, a buyer can find “Holland & Holland crystal tumblers and flutes, shotguns, a cleaning kit for them as well as cartridges and the bag in which to carry them”.  Very cool if you’re a gun/hunting enthusiast

I saved perhaps the best feature for last….The Rand Rover (maybe making to your Madison dealer?), comes with a “bar” and alcohol. A rear console area that can fit 4-people has a built in microfridge.  The alcohol provided is good stuff and includes: Pol Roger champagne, Balvenie single malt whiskey, Hendrick’s small-batch gin, and Ivan the Terrible vodka, with Willow Spring water.  And, as part of the premium price you’ll pay, Overfinch will replenish all of these for a full year!

Only 100 of these bad boys are going to made per year and they will run for around $190K in the U.S.  If you are interested in finding out more about purchasing one, head to your Madison dealer!
